Rob Lowe is one of the most renowned actors and health advocates in the world. As a member of the “Brat Pack,” he rose to fame in the early 80s, starring in films like St. Elmo’s Fire, Wayne’s World, and Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders. Lowe starred in hit television shows like Code Black as Dr. Ethan Willis, 9-1-1: Lone Star as Owen Strand, and The West Wing as Sam Seaborn (alongside Martin Sheen).
Though acting is his career and passion, Lowe is also a loving dog dad with 5 furry friends of his own at home. Along with his wife, Sheryl, the Lowes have spent years rescuing at-risk dogs from local shelters and helping them find their “furever” homes.
Lowe’s love for dogs and interest in pet health inspired him to research longevity, which ultimately led to him meeting up with Dr. Richter. After learning about Dr. Richter’s similar passion for pet longevity, pet health, and nutrition, Lowe joined the team at Ultimate Pet Nutrition as the first-ever Chief Pet Advocate.

Ultimate Pet Nutrition® was founded by renowned veterinarian Dr. Gary Richter. He began his decades of study at the University of Florida with a B.S. in Animal Science, an M.S. in Veterinary Medical Science, and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors. Dr. Richter is the owner and medical director of Holistic Veterinary Care in Oakland, CA, which he launched in 2009.
In his veterinary practice, Dr. Gary Richter uses advanced Western medicine technology to perform surgeries. At Holistic Veterinary Care, he uses Eastern traditions and nutrition to support quality of life, including veterinary acupuncture and veterinary chiropractic practices. Dr. Richter combines these two approaches to offer pet owners comprehensive solutions for their pets to help them live better lives.
Due to his dedication and deep love for animals, Dr. Gary Richter and his animal hospitals have received more than 30 awards for his work, including Best Veterinary Hospital and Best Canine Therapy Facility. He was named “America’s Favorite Veterinarian” by The American Veterinary Medical Foundation, and “Holistic Practitioner of the Year” by the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association in 2019.
Dr. Richter has been at the forefront of pet nutrition for two decades, and is also the author of the bestselling books, The Ultimate Pet Health Guide (2017), Longevity for Cats (2023), and Longevity for Dogs (2023).
